Infographic: How and Why Women Face Higher Rates of Hunger

Around the world, women often eat last and least, especially in countries facing conflict, natural disasters and famine. In real figures, this means that of the 821 million people who are food insecure in the world right now, 60 percent are women and girls.

Women are also much more likely to live in extreme poverty than men, a phenomenon that perpetuates the cycle of poverty and hunger for future generations.
