Hunger and Malnutrition Crisis

The conflict has pushed people into catastrophic levels of hunger. The ceasefire brought some much-needed relief, but it was far from enough to cover the immense needs. The World Food Programme (WFP) continues to provide emergency food assistance to people.

Causes of Hunger

WFP’s Work in Palestine

The World Food Programme has worked in Palestine since 1991. We provide food assistance to people facing the most extreme forms of hunger.

The school is located in Gaza governorate hosting more than 60 displaced families (750 people) who were forced to flee their homes for their safety and survival. These families evacuated their homes with no food, clothes, or any source to sustain themselves, saving only their lives.
Emergency Relief
In October 2024, WFP immediately launched emergency operations to provide urgently needed food assistance. We have provided food and cash to more than 1 million Palestinians since the start of the conflict.

WFP assists 35,000 people in Gaza through in-kind food rations & 224,000 people through food vouchers. The food rations consist of wheat flour, pulses, vegetable oil, salt and canned tuna.
Food & Cash Assistance
We assist people in Gaza and the West Bank through in-kind food assistance, including wheat flour, chickpeas and lentils, as well as electronic vouchers. Palestinians can use the vouchers to buy foods of their choice at their local shops.

To help them build resilience to climate shocks, WFP equips small-scale farmers with agricultural training and tools. These assets help them to adapt their livelihoods while supporting their local economies.
