WFP is providing critical logistics support to the Philippine Government to transport 70,400 family food packs to various areas affected by Typhoon Rai. WFP has provided 2 Mobile Storage Units and a generator to the Government for the establishment of a Logistics Hub in Surigao City.”

Emergency Relief
In the event of a sudden onset emergency, WFP provides food or cash assistance to affected communities, as well as logistics and telecommunications support to government authorities.

The municipality adopted and institutionalised an on-going implementation of Home Grown School Feeding programme in the Brgy Talisawa, Datu Abdullah Sangki Municipality.

The Bisang Elementary School counts one hundred school age children benefitting from the Home Grown School Feeding. This is an indigenous community within the municipality that has allocated funding by integrating it in their development programme.

The local government procures rice, vegetables, and protein sources from local farmers within the municipality for the school feeding programme from their own budget. While the children’s parents undertake weekly shifts to prepare the food in for the kids in school. The school children's equipment, classes and the kitchen are gradually being developed and modernised with funding raised by the community itself.
School Meals
WFP supports the scale-up of the home-grown school feeding model, based on the purchase of food from local producers, and the production and consumption of iron-fortified rice to address food insecurity and malnutrition, particularly vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

WFP is providing support to local communities in Catanduanes, Philippines, following the devastating effects of Typhoon Goni. Antonette, a mother of 3, struggles with the lack of food, money, and clothing due to the typhoon. Proper access to to to their village became severely limited when their newly built bridge was destroyed as well. As a result, she's also been scavenging for food to feed her children.

Nutrition
WFP provides nutritious, ready-to-eat food to children aged between 6 months and 5 years, and to pregnant and nursing women in areas affected by conflict and climate shocks.
