World Food Program USA Receives Top Rating – 4 Stars – From Charity Navigator

Published November 2, 2021

Washington, DC (November 1, 2021)— World Food Program USA was awarded a 4-star Exceptional rating, from Charity Navigator, the highest designation from the world’s largest evaluator of nonprofits. The 4-star rating indicates that a charity “exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in its cause.”

“We are so proud to have earned this rating and endorsement from the country’s premier trust indicator. As we head into giving season, it provides further assurance to donors that we act in good faith and invest our donors’ dollars responsibly,” said Barron Segar, World Food Program USA President and CEO. “My leadership team and I take our efficiency ratio very seriously. Our top priority is always to  ensure donations are allocated to feed the world’s hungriest people.”

As Charity Navigator President and CEO Michael Thatcher stated in the announcement, “Nonprofits are the safety nets of society, and they were stretched in ways we never before imagined. Over the past 18 months, we’ve made significant strides in expanding the depth and breadth of our ratings. Today’s ratings release demonstrates our adaptiveness and responsiveness, taking into account the situation we’ve all been living through and giving donors a more complete picture of a nonprofit’s total impact.”

“World Food Program USA is in the business of saving lives, and it is our hope that this 4-star rating encourages more donors to join our movement to end hunger and create food security for all people,” said Randy Russell, World Food Program USA Board Chairman.

Charity Navigator objectively examines each organization’s financial health, accountability and transparency practices and issues a zero to four star rating so donors can identify reputable charities and give with confidence.
