The UPS Foundation President Eduardo Martinez Joins World Food Program USA Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, DC (June 17, 2020) – World Food Program USA (WFP USA) has named Eduardo Martinez, president of The UPS Foundation and UPS chief diversity and inclusion officer, to its distinguished board of directors. As a board member, Martinez will support World Food Program USA’s mission around the world on behalf of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

“We are very happy to welcome Ed to our board, and look forward to working with him,” said Randy Russell, World Food Program USA board chairman. “He is an avid humanitarian, an exceptional leader and will be an incredible asset to our team. Ed has been a committed advocate for zero hunger throughout The UPS Foundation’s long-term partnership with us and we’re honored that he is increasing his commitment to World Food Program USA by serving on our board.”

As president of The UPS Foundation, Martinez is responsible for the operations and management of its global philanthropic, employee engagement, and corporate relations programs, which invested in more than 4,300 organizations and communities across 170 countries in 2019. As chief diversity and inclusion officer, Martinez is responsible for the advancement of diversity and inclusion programs that empower nearly half a million UPS employees worldwide.

Martinez served as corporate legal counsel for UPS until 2007. Prior to becoming president, he served as director of philanthropy and corporate relations for The UPS Foundation. He joined UPS in 1976 as a package handler, and subsequently joined the management ranks in the company’s operations and industrial engineering functions before advancing to other management roles.

Martinez holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting from the University of Miami, Florida, and a juris doctor degree from the Nova Southeastern University Law School. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Hispanic National Bar Association, and the Florida Bar.
