Socially–minded Popsicle Brand Donates Portion of Proceeds For Assistance In Region Devastated By Earthquake

AUSTIN, TX – GoodPop® All-Natural Frozen Pops, an Austin-based frozen dessert company with a social mission to create frozen treats with all-natural ingredients, announced today that they have joined forces with World Food Program USA to donate funds toward earthquake relief in Ecuador. GoodPop will donate $1 for every case of Banana Cinnamon GoodPops purchased now until the end of May. The company will also run a fundraising campaign on its Twitter feed.  For every re-tweet, the company will donate 33 cents to World Food Program USA—the average cost per person for the U.N. World Food Programme to provide food assistance to survivors of natural disasters like the recent Ecuador earthquake.

The Banana Cinnamon GoodPop features Fair Trade Certified bananas sourced from worker-owned banana co-ops in Ecuador. Along with bananas from Ecuador, the pops have rBST-free fresh Texas dairy, organic ground cinnamon and a touch of Fair Trade Organic cane sugar.

“At GoodPop, we care a great deal about our ingredients and the people who help provide them,” said Daniel Goetz, founder and CEO of GoodPop. “While our farmers’ growing region was not affected by the earthquake, we understand the impact that such a devastating event can have on our farmers’ and their families. We’re proud to partner with World Food Program USA to do whatever we can to help.”

With the funds generated by GoodPop and other organizations, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is able to provide food assistance to reach up to 260,000 people in the areas most affected by the April 16 earthquake. WFP is providing assistance in the form of food vouchers that can be redeemed for items such as milk, quinoa, lentils, pasta, and tuna.

GoodPop was founded in 2009 by then-college student Daniel Goetz, who desired a better-for-you frozen dessert with high quality, all-natural ingredients. GoodPop All-Natural Frozen Pops are available for a suggested retail price of $4.99-$5.99 and can be found in natural and specialty retailers in 25+ states across the Southwest, West Coast, Pacific Northwest, Midwest, Florida, New England and Rocky Mountain regions.
