Washington, D.C. — World Food Program USA is pleased to announce the launch of KFC’s Add Hope campaign, one of the largest private-sector fundraising initiatives committed to feeding the hungry.

One in nine people worldwide suffer from chronic hunger—and children are the most vulnerable. The Add Hope campaign helps feed children in need by raising support for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the largest humanitarian agency dedicated to global hunger relief.

Through October 30, customers can visit participating KFC restaurants, log on to https://order.kfc.co.za/addhope or text “KFCWHR” to 90999 in the U.S. to make a donation. Every dollar raised goes directly toward WFP’s operations to fight hunger, including the agency’s school meals program, which feeds nearly 18 million boys and girls in the world’s poorest classrooms.

“KFC is a company that feeds the world, not only with our world famous chicken, but also with our Huge Heart,” said Jason Marker, KFC U.S. President. “KFC’s support of WFP helps fund its school meal programs, which provide balanced meals to millions of children across the world. As a business, it is our privilege and responsibility to give back to our communities, both globally through the WFP, and locally, with Harvest and our volunteer programs.”

For just 25 cents, WFP can deliver a nutritious meal to a hungry child. By easing the burden of putting food on the table, school meals enable parents to keep their sons and daughters in the classroom. Good nutrition also empowers students to succeed by helping them stay healthy and focused. Studies have shown that school meals boost enrollment, attendance and graduation rates, especially among girls.

“With the help of the private sector, we can eliminate hunger in our lifetimes,” says Rick Leach, President and CEO of World Food Program USA.

“By mobilizing consumers across the U.S., companies like this one are helping us raise awareness and support for the millions of children across the globe who will go to bed hungry tonight. Through nourishing meals, we can add hope to the lives of families in need and create a brighter tomorrow for boys and girls everywhere.”

This is the tenth year KFC has partnered with WFP to help solve world hunger.
