WASHINGTON, D.C. — World Food Program USA is delighted to announce that the U.N. World Food Programme just won the Best Transport Achievement Award at this year’s Fleet Forum Conference.

The Best Transport Achievement Award, sponsored by shipping and logistics giant UPS, is presented to the humanitarian organization that most exemplifies excellence in one or more fleet management areas, such as road safety, fleet safety, environmental impact, and cost efficiency.

“We are so grateful to the UPS Foundation for giving the World Food Programme its Transport Achievement Award at this year’s Fleet Forum Conference,” said Rick Leach, President and CEO of World Food Program USA.

“As the world’s largest hunger relief agency, WFP crosses the planet’s toughest terrain to deliver lifesaving food assistance to the planet’s most remote communities — an enormous operation that requires incredible planning, coordinating and transportation. This includes fleets of ships, trucks and planes to elephants and donkeys if the situation requires. Receiving this award is even more meaningful coming from one of the world’s logistics leaders. Thanks to the support and technical expertise of the UPS Foundation, WFP is becoming even faster and more effective at feeding vulnerable families in need.”
